Tiger / Spotlight & Finder not finding any files

Yikes... 10.4.8 is not finding any files on my computer..

neither Spotlight nor doing a manual find Apple-F (even with file type set to "any") will find files that I know exist on this volume. It's not pulling up ANY files at all in fact in the results window.

I tried repairing permissions.. that didn't help.

Any ideas?
 
thanks.. but I don't think I was clear.. Spotlight is not finding ANYTHING.. not even stuff it was finding only yesterday.. it finds nothing.
 
Yeah, but you've probably _got_ to re-index in order to make it work again...
 
I upgraded to 10.4.9 and that fixed it..
just curious.. where is the index kept.. is there a way I can look at it using a text editor or database management program?

I'm so silly..

I was on 10.4.7 before and just now updated to 10.4.8
on this machine.

whoa... the whole site just changed to NoWonder

what the ?
 
We have two sites in one, Macosx.com and Nowonder.com. The forums are identical.
