Tips for speeding up your mac?

1. Get more RAM.
That will make the Mac faster.

2. Disable things you don't use ... in case of 10.4 or 10.5 if you don't use for instance dashboard, disabling it speeds the things up 2 %.

3. Don't use Filevault, that would slow the things another 2 %.

Don't fill up your hard drive with files; get an external one to store your work files/photos, etc.

Repair permissions once a month or when problems occur: apps/utilities/disk utility

Restart your computer regularly if you let it sleep instead of shutting it down.

Indeed, 15 % empty space minimum on your hard drive at all times for 'nix to work well.

Run periodic every now and then if you can't keep it running and out of sleep at nights.

I've been wondering, how do you actually disable Dashboard since I hardly ever use it.
