create the user on your tower, then simply copy the contents of the home folder of that user on the laptop onto the newly created home folder on the tower, replacing everything there. if your laptop came with firewire ports you can boot into firewire disk mode. then log out and log in as that user that should do it. also you might want to use something like carbon copy cloner if you have apps in your user folder. does that make sense?
