Trash Deletion Issue

OS X Friendly
For some weird reason, when I empty my trash I have less space available.

I usually open a Finder window to monitor space available. It never fails when I delete, the available space gets smaller. Any reason why? Do I need to restart or index the drive to correct the space?

I don't know, that's really strange -- can you post some screenshots of before and after the trash emptying? Also, have you done anything like moved your home directory off the main drive with symbolic links, or moved swap files onto their own partition, or any Finder-hacking like that? Perhaps the Finder is choking when it tried to calculate sizes and one of those directories isn't located on the boot drive.

Hmm... well, I find that perplexing and strange. One other option: I'm getting some strange desktop icon behavior lately -- right after I cloned my 10GB OS X drive to a 40GB drive for more space. Your OS X installation isn't a clone of another installation, is it?

I have had this problem also (for quite a while actually... and on multiple installations since 10.2). I just always assumed it was a bug. However, after I restart my computer, everything is fine.

yeah i used to have it too but since i have erased everything on my hard drive and reinstalled X, everything is fine
