Trash icons

OK so I've successfully switched my trash icons in 10.2.2 but when I log in the icons flip back to the old ones ... the old ones aren't even in the dock resource folder so how is this happening and how can I fix it? I know in OS 9 the first thing I would do is rebuild the desktop (by the way if i put something in the trash it goes to the new icons)

i did it manually .... just replaced the *.png files that are associated with the trash.

Mine seems to work fine, and all I did was replace the relevant *.png file. Although I do seem to recall something about deleting the com.apple.dock.iconcache.[username] file before rebooting. Have you done that? If not, i suspect the icon is just being stored there, or something.
