I see the folder and Disk Utility on the computer but I thought I needed to boot from the CD to do the repair. Not true?
Or, if it's able to do the job it'll do it but if there's a problem repairing the permissions, I'd need to boot from a CD??
Thanks
Peg:)

For repairing the disk and permissions, I think you do have to run Disk Utility from the CD. Though some repairs can be carried out by a logged-in administrator, others cannot be done while the system is mounted.
So, if it says it can't repair it or if it doesn't offer you the option, then you'll need to run Disk Utility from the CD.

thanks. I tried it tonight and all went well.
But, my original question was what CD do I use? If one keeps upgrading the versions, it doesn't seem logical to use the CD from an earlier version??
