Unable to Mount Compact Flash Card Via Pcmcia In 10.4

I used to do this all the time and it worked great. I would just stick my little CF into this adaptor and plug it into my 17" PB's PCMCIA slot. It would show up on the desktop as a volume and I was good to go.

Somewhere along the line this stopped working (not sure if it was the move to 10.4 or not).

Now when I do this, I still get the little "menu-ling" that shows that a PC card is active, it even identifies the particular brand of CF that is inserted and I can do "power off" (which does nothing).

I don't see anything visible in Disk Utilities.

I've tried clearing caches and clearing out the /Volumes directory of hidden files.

I've heard mention of unloading or removing .kext files but haven't seen anything clear enough to actually perform.

Any advice would be welcomed:

When I insert the card I get the following in the system.log:

What format is the CF Card in? If you use it with a digital camera or some device like that, can you try formatting the card with the camera/device, then trying to mount it via the adaptor again?
