Update keeps appearing

Hi! I'm trying to update my system but it seems the same update keeps appearing. When I open system update I get the update "MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1), then I install it. The system reboots, and then, re-opening system update I get it again. I tried installing it some times:

2008-01-15 03:28:42 +0100: Installed "MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1)
2008-01-15 03:29:44 +0100: Installed "Security Update 2007-009" (1.1)
2008-01-15 09:36:56 +0100: Installed "MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1)
2008-01-15 09:39:11 +0100: Installed "MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1)
2008-01-15 10:37:07 +0100: Installed "MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1)

but it keeps appearing. I can't understand whether it was installed or not. And in case new updates are available I don't know if this is going to cause problems. Is this happening to anyone else?
Thanks!

01. An option to set permanently; but, at least during the process of the following steps ...

Via the 'Apple' menu, select the 'System Preferences' menu item. The 'System Preferences...' window will appear. Click on 'Software Update', then the 'Update Software' tab. Finally, remove the check mark from the 'Check for updates:' check box. Close the window.

Again, if you want / like this (auto updating) feature - add the check mark after performing the steps provided below.

02. Double click the upper right icon on the 'Desktop' (this is your boot hard disk drive). A window will appear.
03. Locate and double click on the 'Library' folder. A 'Library' window will appear.
04. Locate and double click on the 'Receipts' folder. A 'Receipts' window will appear.
05. Locate and if present trash the 'MacBookMacBookProKdbSU.pkg' file or files.
06. Click 'here' to go to the 'MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.1' web page, to manually download the 'MacBookMacBookProSU1.1.dmg' file.
07. Once downloaded, double click the 'MacBookMacBookProSU1.1.dmg' file to mount its image - which is a window with 'MacBookMacBookProKbdSU.pkg' as its single file.
08. Double click on 'MacBookMacBookProKbdSU.pkg' and follow any related 'Installer' instructions. If required, reboot the Mac.

Whether or not you set 'Software Update' to automatically check for, and / or install, new Apple updates (see Step 01. above) - use the Mac and determine if the above steps provided solved your problem.

Please post your results.

I installed manually the upgrade as suggested but in system updates I still get that update. The manual installation finished correctly.
Thanks for your answer.

'... but in system updates I still get that update.' - that is odd; and not having the Mac Book in my presence - it would be hard to determine why such exists, or provide a way to remove the update listing.

However, when viewing the 'Software Update' to download / install any additional update(s), simply remove the 'Install' column check mark by any '"MacBook MacBook Pro Software Update" (1.1)' listing.

Try to repair permissions with disk utility. ( applications/utilities )
Also, you can trash the preference file for software update.
home folder~/library/preferences/
If neither one works, try to log in as a different user and see if that helps.

I tried to repair and it actually changed something. Then I tried to remove the directory in the preferences. Not fixed yet. Now, I just tried to create a new user and to install the same update from that user. The update seems to be there yet. No way to make it go away. I can't even understand if this update has been installed or not.
Any other idea?
Thanks!

Did you delete the "com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist" ? You said the directory... ?
Have you tried the verify disk option with disk utility as well?
If the program itself is corrupt, you can get it off your install disk using a program called Pacifist. http://www.charlessoft.com/
I've also noticed from your log that the install take a little longer every time. (went from over 3 min to over 10 min) It might not be installing correctly...

Yes, that's the file I removed, sorry. I tried to verify, but everything was ok according to disk utility. I can't understand what I should do with Pacifist. Which program can be corrupt? Any other update is installed correctly it seems. This is the only one which remeains. My only chance it seems is to reinstall the OS, but it would not be a good thing to do it just because of an update which cannot be installed...
Thanks again for your help!

It seems to me this update is important, isn't it? Is it possible to undersand whether is has been installed or not?

If every other update is installing and working, it is very odd. I was thinking that the Software Update or Installer apllication might be corrupt. (which Pacifist could be used to get the applications off the Install cd without having to re-install the whole OS)
You can try the System Profiler in the utilities folder and check the logs for updates, etc...

It's not likely that Software Update is corrupted in some way - that would prevent other updates from downloading and installing.
More probably - the receipts database that software update uses is not updating properly, and that's not simple to fix. Reinstalling your system really won't do that, either.
You can check for certain about the update, Use Pacifist to open that updater package, and you can see where files get installed, and the dates for those files. Compare those to what you do have installed already. If the two agree, then you can assume that the update is complete. If the update continues to show up, then you should choose to ignore the update, as it has already been installed. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but a work-around may be the most efficient fix for this issue.

Weird... I just reinstalled everything, erasing the entire disk... just updated the system... all was ok but the same exact update. Again in the same situation... Very very strange. After reinstalling the system I did nothing but the updates... Maybe it is related to something I didn't install from the original DVD, like drivers or some languages...

I have had this problem. I just cured it by downloading the update directly from Apple's site and then installing in safe mode.
