Uploading snag

I can upload files to Mobile Me, Dropbox or to just about anywhere else for that matter. However, whenever I try to upload a video to YouTube, using either my Mac Mini or my MacBook Pro, the screen freezes after 20 seconds.

I then can't quit any applications. Selecting Force Quit doesn't work as it will not show up on the desktop and the only option (after waiting eons whilst the spinning pizza keeps turning) I have to reboot.

It really doesn't matter whether I am using the Mac Mini or the MacBook Pro. The problem occurs on both.

Can anyone come up with an explanation?

It sounds as if the program is still try to connect to the YouTube server to do the upload. What happens if you let it try for about 15 minutes?

I gave it a go using my Mac Mini. No joy. I am now having problems downloading as well as uploading. The Internet connection just drops and then the computer freezes completely. Force quitting won't work. No option but to reboot. This is becoming a pain. (The Macbook is affected in the same way).

Virusbarrier X6 (which includes a firewall).

Edit: just uninstalled it. So far so good. Uploads working!

If you want a good free firewall (that use when going to coffee shops) NoobProof. If you feel real advance then go with the big free brother WaterRoof You can see the difference between the two here.

Both of these programs use the BSD built-in ipfw firewall that is configured via the Terminal. It has been developed over the life of BSD so it has been built up for the last few decades. I consider that to be a much stronger firewall compared to OS X's built in GUI firewall, but you milage may vary. ;)
