I was copying files to an ipod and my work Mac G5 froze. Tried force quit but nothing happened. Had to reboot.

Thought all was ok until tried to read a zip and was not able to see the icon on desk top. Tried various sockets but still no joy. Tried memory stick and same thing. Tried ipod again and this mounted.

Used disk utilities, both on mac and startup disk and notice the devices were greyed out and no mount listed. Ran repairs etc and it report unable to repair disk.
Mac appears to be ok with all other tasks

Since then I have update ipod on my home mac and now this won't mount on my work mac.

Tried Firewire and it mounted but again frooze when trying to copy files. Again after reboot firewire device don't appear to mount either.

Any ideas?

Reset the Pram and hold down the buttons until you hear two startup "bongs". By the was, don't have any devices connected (besides the keyboard & mouse) while you do this.

This should fix it.
