USB Problem- Ibook G4

Hello Everyone- I hope this hasn't been covered yet as I can't seem to find an answer. I have an Ibook G4 (1 year old last week). 75% of the time when I start it up, the peripheral devices attached to the USB ports won't work. I have an optical mouse, a video camera, a digital camera, and an external HDD. I've tried changing the power management settings to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? It seems somewhat random, as some days at least one of the ports will work. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks for the tip- it didn't work. I see there's a PMU reset too, but I don't think that's going to fix it. My year of support just ended- I'm thinking I'm going to have to bite the bullet and send it in.

Your logic board is probably going. You can replace this yourself if you have the patience to open an iBook case.

Thanks- I think you may be right after doing a little more research online. I've found that there's been a history of problems with them- maybe mine will be covered under the ad hoc warranty I've heard about. Regardless, thanks for responding.

The program covers affected iBooks for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or until March 18, 2005, whichever provides longer coverage for you. Apple will continue to evaluate the repair data and will provide further repair extensions as needed.
