Using PC speakers on a Mac?

I've been using my old Boston Acoustics speakers (BA745-originally from a Gateway) on my Macbook, but the amplifier doesn't seem to work with it. I was wondering if there was any way to get it to work with the Macbook. Any help out there?

If it's got a standard 3.5" minijack plug, it should work the same as with a PC. Have you tried adjusting the volume on both the MacBook Pro and the speakers themselves?

I've adjusted both volumes, and I know for sure it's not working with it. The wire that connects to the computer splits into two separate jacks. I'm not too good with the speakers so I'm not too sure how to explain it other than that one goes to a headphone jack and the other goes to a microphone jack. They both hook into the back of the amplifier though. I just find it weird that the two smaller speakers work, but the amplifier doesn't. By the way, I just have a regular MacBook if that makes any difference.

Not that I can provide any help at all, but the same thing happened with my eMac and a pair of HP speakers.

it sounds like you are trying to plug the second audio cable into the microphone socket. what is the model of speakers?

They're BA745's... I've been plugging it into the headphone socket and that has worked so far. I'm just not sure what to do to get the amp working.

Can you see the power light on the back of the subwoofer? Is it on?
If not, make sure the power adapter is plugged in.
Plug the green connector from the subwoofer to the headphone jack on your MacBook. Make sure nothing is plugged into the green connector on the right speaker. For now, do not use the pink connectors at all, which are microphone lines.
