VCD Backup Copy

Hello all,

I own a VCD that I would like to make a backup copy of.

Is there some way I can do this on my iBook even with only one cdrom drive?

Any advice appreciated.

As long as you can burn a CD, you can rip the VCD and burn the info to the new disc (for legal reasons only, of course).

Hi guys,

Hate to admit it, but my first attempt failed.

I burned a toaster!

Anyway, put the original CD in, run Disk Utility, Select the CD at the top level of the hierarchy, Select "New Image" from the top menu...

the Size defaults to 40 MB... Is that okay? Seems strange, so I changed it to a 660MB CDROM 12cm. No encryption.

Gave it a name, and save the file on the desktop.

You're close but not quite doing it right...

In Disk Utility, highlight the CD device (not the volume name, which is indented below the device), then from the "Images" menu, select "New" and then select "Image from (disk1)" where (disk1) may be disk1, disk2, etc.

Then, under "Image Format," select "DVD/CD Master" and "Encryption" should be "none."

When it finishes, you should have a disk image... to burn that to a CD, simply drag the disk image file from the Finder into the left-hand sidebar of Disk Utility (if it doesn't already appear there), then click "Burn" and it should make a perfect copy.

Thanks for the tips,

This time, I am getting an "Input Error" as soon as it starts creating the *.cdr file, it quits and gives me a "input/output error". I'm translating this from my Japanese OS so the English might be different.. maybe I/O Error or something.

Hrm. I wonder if something is strange with my disk...

[EDIT]

I noticed that the above problem only happens with some of my disks. Maybe these disks have some kind of copy gaurd?

As far as the process is concerned, it works, I got it! Thanks a lot~
