Please move the "View Last # Days" of the thread drop-down back to the top... or make this a preference so that I don't have to keep reselecting it.

It is. Click on the Profile button, then click on Edit Preferences. scroll down until you get to default thread view, and set it to however many days you want.

Yes it is an option but TommyWillB is right that the menu should be at the top of the page.
