I ran disk warrior on my g-4 and the report came up with these listed below.
Warning: SUID file "system/librar/coreservices/finder.app/Resource damaged and will not be repaired.
Warning:SUID file"usr/bin/Ippasswd" has been modified and will not be repaired.
I used spotlight to search for using some of the words but cannot find any thing in reference to the 2 warnings, so I can figure out how to repair them.
anyone out there who can help on this is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Is something acting funny with your computer that you were prompted to run DiskWarrior, or was this just a general maintenance kind of thing?

General maintence. i run disk wrrior about 1-2 weeks just to keep all up to snuff.

I did the same thing . . . being paranoid . . . until I updated my Widdle Pismo to a MacBook Pro. DiskWarrior says the same thing about file headers on mine. This includes NEW programs I directly loaded from source CDs.

DW has no problem with rebuilding the volumes or anything else.

I also had more an annoyance than a problem--on a thread HERE--so I checked with Disk Aid and TechTools . . . no problem!

I suspect our versions of DiskWarrior has "issues" with the Intel chip.

In fact, I just contacted their Technical Support . . . left message . . . will let you know what I find out.

Got a call back from Technical Support at DW. He claims that DW 4.1 will recognize and work with the Intel chip, but will read Power PC-made files as corrupt and report them as such. I noted that some of the files I have read as corrupt are "new," designed for the Intel chip, and I loaded then updated directly from the software CDs.

"That's news to me, but I can see it happening. I would not worry about it."

Back when I was on the Widdle Pismo, the DW would occasionally read updated software like parts of Stuffit [Tm.--Ed.] as "corrupt"--"incorrect resource headers" or something like that. I think it is just that DW 4.0 did not recognize newer software. DW 4.1 did not do that for the same files . . . but would do the same for even newer software such as my Word.

I have not had to do this--*knocks on wood*--with my current machine, but through my general incompetence I have fried my system on the Widdle Mac once or twice. Despite the issues with DW above, it would recover my system, allowing me to back up data, blah . . . blah. My point on that is that this is probably a matter of DW not recognizing an newer file and simply flagging it as damaged.

So you are probably okay. "If the files run fine, then it is most likely DW not recognizing the file," according to DW TS. I have had actually corrupt files, and they do not run, the program that opens them tells you they are damaged, et cetera.

Finally, [ZZZzzZZZzzz--Ed.], remember the kind words asked by every person whom you tell you have a HD, OS, or other major disaster that then cause you to bludgeon them into the ground:

"You backed everything up, right?!"

Good external HDs are cheap nowadays. About the same price as DW, TechTools, and other recovery programs. Get one. OS X has nifty automatic back-up ability.
