webbrowsing crash with flash

Hi
everytime i visit a site with flash content, my webbrowser crashes.
youtube seems to work ok, but other sites such as:
vimeo.com
ted.com
last.fm
all these sites and others, cause the webbrowser to exit/crash.

This happens for both safari and firefox.

I have installed the latest version of adobe flash, and firefox. (but not safari, because my the latest safari is for newer macs its seems)

I am running Mac OS X 10.4.6

The only solution so far is disabling flash content, but that means that i can't watch streaming video/music :(

From other posts I have read, some people seem to think the problem lies with quicktime player. So incidently i am running version 7.1.3 of quicktime.

Any help will be most appreciated!

:)

Hi,
thanks for your reply, sorry for slow response..
I tried updating to 10.4.11 but my mac won't let me do that because it says that my license is out of date or something like.. so not sure what to do really?
is their a way to still to the update? shall I start another thread for this? if so, what do u think i shud call the thread?

Is there anything else I could try instead of doing the update to 10.4.11?

I'm still getting the crashes with flash sites, and its very annoying :(

Hope there is something else you/anyone out there can suggest,

thanks

You need to download the 10.4.11 Combo update -- ensure this is the file you're downloading, then install 10.4.11.

10.4.11 Combo Update is available here for PowerPC-based Macintosh computers:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html

10.4.11 Combo Update is available here for Intel-based Macintosh computers:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html

You didn't specify what kind of Macintosh you have, so if you need help figuring out which one to download, you'll have to post back and tell us specifically and exactly what model of Macintosh computer you are using.

Hi,
I'm using a 2GHz intel core duo, running Mac OS X 10.4.6

I'll try the downloads that you suggested in above post, and let you know how I get on.

Thankyou :)

I have a client with constant Safari crashing. I can't read the error codes that well but it's pretty clear it's Flash. So updated her to OS 10.5.7 (she was on 5.6), didn't work. Trashed Safari, reinstalled. Didn't work.
Trashed plists, caches etc - didn't work.
Trashed Flash, reinstalled (player 10), didn't work.
I also ran fix disk, and Onyx to remove all caches etc, and reset the PRAM ... didn't work
So moved her to FireFox ... that crashed on the same content! Ie, this page:
http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2009-06-01-AAA-iphone-app_N.htm
So I removed the plug-in - at least she can browse now. What do I do? She wants Flash content like everyone else.

You need to run the flash uninstaller before installing or updating ANY version of the Flash player/plugin, as Adobe's installation method leaves garbage in the system that messes stuff up if you do not.

Grab it from:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Then run your flash installer to install a clean version.
