weird fonts coming up on safari!!

i just upgraded my OS from panther to tiger. mkay, any time i google something its in a completely different font than before. but when i click prefrences it says its on normal fonts. why does apple always change with my settings when i choose to install new?
 
id also like to add that when i change the fonts nothing happens, it stays on the same font. , i cant even read googled results. thx apple
 
Have you added any fonts? Sounds like "Arial" is corrupted.
 
An upgrade most always changes various fonts but you OS X keeps a font cache of your most used fonts for quick access. So during the upgrade, a different style (of the same font) was used but you font cache still has the old style in it's font cache. So you have clear the font cache. What I personally use is a small shareware application called Font Finagler. There are some freeware that also delete the font cache, but I can't think of any right now. Good Luck.
