I have every intention, of course, on returning my recalled battery to Apple. I have no use for it. But I'm just curious: What would happen if I didn't ship the recalled battery back to Apple after they sent me a replacement battery? Anything?
Karma would come around and bite you in the ass -- at some point in the future, you'll inadvertently use the old battery, and it'll do what it's being recalled for and explode, and ruin your iBook.
Then your shiny, new, flaw-free battery will be worthless.
the battery i bought off eBay to replace my 10-minutes-worth iBook battery turned out to be a battery with a serial number that apple have already recalled. dodgy bastard.
having said that, it's the coolest part of the ibook, and holds well over 5 hours charge, so i'm happy. £25 for an £80 battery!

Well, I don't think my iBook is going to explode into flames. I've had the same battery for almost two years now and I've never had any problems with it.
But, alas, I'll send the battery back, anyway. Even though it's a perfectly good battery.
