What printer driver do I have?

This is a specific question that I would prefer to have a generic solution to. How do I find out what Epson printer driver for my 2200 that I have already installed? I just installed it from the CD and I went to the web site and they have one up there. Is it newer? (Probably, but how do I know for sure?)

Thank you,
Perry Smith

Open the Printer Setup Utility, double click on your printer, it's job box will open, then go to the Epson Menu at top of screen to About your printer. The driver version should be in there.

Thanks for the two replies but I can not figure out what either one of you are telling me.

With the system profiler, I don' see a "USB" to look under. Which tab are you in?

To BobW. I'm guessing you mean the Print Center but when I click on the window for the Epson jobs, the top menu is still the same: Print Center, Edit, View, Printers, Jobs, Window, Help. No Epson menu.

I tried going down the Configure path but that did not seem to work either.

Thanks again to both of you.

When you open the Printer Utility and see your printer, double click on it, when the next window opens, go to the Epson Menu at top of screen, usually where the File menu is, and to About the Printer.

The only "Printer Utility" I can find is on my old disk under the Mac OS 9 applications. I'm looking at "Print Center" version 2.3. Am I in the wrong App?

The Epson 2200 is attached via firewire but I have a Canon and a Epson 740 attached via USB and none of those act like you are describing. We much be talking about different utilities is all I can figure.

I no longer have Mac OS 9 installed. I had to reinstall about two months ago and never put that back on.

I did find an Epson Printer Utility but I don't see why way to get the version of the driver.

Thanks again...

Are you running Jaguar or Panther?

When you open Print Center (Jaguar) or Printer Setup Utility (Panther), do you see the printer listed. If you do, double click on the printer's name. It should open the printer job box and at the top of the screen it should have the printers name on the left. Go to that and about this printer.

that only shows the version of the Printer manager, I guess, which is 3.0. (would have different results with the desktop printers in Panther now, because that's what comes up) If you open Print Center (in Jaguar), select the printer, go to the Printer menu, and select 'printer info', you should get a window with the driver version listed.
