Hi.

I'm about to install Mac OS X, but it says its going to erase and replace Macintosh HD, i don't know what to do.

Please help!

It's going to do exactly what it says it's going to do: erase all the data on the hard drive that is named "Macintosh HD" and install OS X.

If you have data you do NOT want erased on "Macintosh HD," then you'd better back it up first before proceeding.

OR: You can upgrade (depending on what OS your currently on) Macintosh HD is the partition or Volume name, It's what your current Operating system is installed on.
If you click erase and format, then everything that was on that drive before, will be gone, and you will have to do a fresh install, and get all of your stuff back.

:)

In other words...

Mac OS X is software, it is your operating system.
Macintosh HD is hardware, it is your hard drive.

Yes, you want to install your operating system on your hard drive.
Just be sure and have it backed up first.
