Where is NUMLOCK on G5 keyboard?

OK...maybe I'm blind...or just plain stupid...but I can't find the "numlock" key on the G5 keyboard. I need it because I'm using a KVM that uses it as the toggle key between active ports.

Or...if anyone could tell me where the "scroll lock" key is...that would be helpful in an attempt to change the KVM focus hotkey. Either or both would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No such thing as scroll lock on the Apple-supplied Mac keyboards.

Num lock should be right above the '7' key on the numeric keypad.

The num lock isn't on a G5 keyboard. Numlock is only used for keyboards that have keys with multiple functions.

Example, the 8 key might be used as an up arrow or an 8. Turning on the 'num lock' was a way of toggling between the two functions for that key.

The G5 keyboard has all of the function keys and arrow keys working independently.

Are you just using Macs in your KVM setup? Or is there a PC in there as well? I used a KVM to share my monitor between my Mac and PC, used the PC keyboard to do the switching because it's the only one with a PS/2 connector :)

I'm using a Mac G5 and a PC, however I don't have a USB PC keyboard. The mac needs a USB keyboard, so I'm using the mac keyboard. The toggle for the KVM is the "scroll-lock" key twice. The instructions say this can be changed to other keys, such as the "CTRL" key twice, and the process to do this involves holding down the "NUMLOCK" key while pressing another key first. Thus I need to know which key is the "NUMLOCK" key on the G5 Keyboard. Otherwise, the only way I can switch between computers is to shut both down and then start one. The KVM is autosensing and will automatically focus on the machine that's powered on. The KVM doesn't have any switches or selection buttons. I guess I'll have to break down and buy a PC keyboard, or find an older mac G4 keyboard which DOES have a "NUMLOCK" key....unless someone has a suggestion. I was hoping to be able to use my G5 keyboard, though.

When using different systems, you should always buy KVM's that have a hardware switch to switch between them.

Can you try hooking up another keyboard (read PC) to it first and then reprogram with that keyboard? Then hook up your Mac keyboard and see if the settings still work (i.e. using the CTRL key?)

Well...the good news is I got it to work, but I had to cheat a little. I found an mac G4 keyboard, which DOES have NumLock and used that one to set the KVM to use "CTRL" 2X to switch focus. All works fine. I switched the keyboards back and am now using the G5 keyboard without problems. This saved me having to spend any money on either a PC USB keyboard or a diffterent KVM box.
