I've just got my first Mac , a G4 running O.S X , which booted and worked fine. Then I thought I'd explore O.S 9 because there was an icon which I now realize was probably Classic in the Startup menu in the Control Panel . All it did was give me a little computer icon with a face on in the middle of my screen when I started up. I can boot O.S 9 from the restore discs that came with the computer but there are no O.S X discs . In the O.S 9 Control Panel , the startup menu only has the Restore disc, Network , and "CEM" which is the name of the hard drive , or partition , that the O.S X and all related applications etc are in . If I highlight that it still won't boot , same little smiling face. Can I open that "CEM" to specifically point to O.S X ? Have I lost it? I havn't erased or replaced or installed anything on the computer , only opened files.Hope someone can help , thanks.
