Why is Downloading so slow?

Hi all: I am downloading 2.6 GB of mp3 from http://2005.sxsw.com/geekout/sxsw4pod/ and I have a download program installed. It is taking a very very very long time. Some specs. THere are usually about 25 peers but according to the peer log only 5 of them seems to be active. I seem to be uploading and downloading about 4.5 kb per sec. I've tried it with firewire on and firewire off. I am using a cable modem and comcast. Any ideas? Is it something I am doing wrong? Do I need to plug in special numbers for the min and max ports or leave on the defaults. Or should I just leave it on for the next .... 5 days!

Thanks for any advice!

P.S. Has anyone listen to the above mp3? Any good?

Your download speeds can vary a lot depending on the number of peers and the speed of their connections. I'm getting about the same speed as you are right now on that particular file.

I think it's to do with ports blocked.. if you open up some ports (don't remember which ones.. read the readme) it allows better conenction speeds to your peers.

and mostly it depends on the speed of the broadband. both on yours and on the people seeding. files seeded mostly by americans, par exemple, is usually a lot slower than files seeded by european or nordic countries. (a lot of americans use "broadband" that is below 10megabit/s (!), while in europe it's usually around 24mb/s that is standard.
