Why the new Ad placement?

This is a simple question, why the new Ad placement just after the first thread post now? I think the side of thread would be better.

If we did it on the side, it would interfere with the existing site design and layout. I looked at doing this, but for the time being, it will be in it's new location.

Then why not just above the the Post Reply (top) button just after the thread title?
