widescreen-DVI from MAC-mini ?

I bought a new monitor (Philips 200W6CS) with 1680*1050 pixels , to replace a Belinea with 1200*1000 pix.
When connected to the mac mini it gives a very clear picture but for only 5 minutes, ending in sleep-mode, or "no signal".
The same DVI-cable then still gives signal to other DVI-monitor,
The new 200W6CS does only work stable on VGA with same but less sharp 1680*1050 pix..., .... and still with DVI from PC's.
What is wrong ??, and how to fix ??

The OS here is 10.3.7..
The video from mac-mini should support 1900*1200 pix.?.?..

It should definitely support that display. Care to upgrade to 10.3.9, though?

I changed the monitor for another brandnew Philips 200W6CS,
I did upgrade the OS on the macmini to 10.4.5.
But the problem still exists !

Try SwitchResX, available with a simple Google or Versiontracker.com search.

Be careful with it, though, and make sure you know that the resolution you're switching to is supported. It's easy to select an unsupported resolution and stick yourself with a black screen.
