Wireless internet is usually speedy... but sometimes it slows down a lot. help please

hello!

basically the title is exactly my problem. my wireless internet is really fast at times and then sometimes it slows down to a snails pace. only problem is the router isn't mine and I'm sure my girlfriends roommates wouldn't want me to restart it, even though I'm sure that would fix the problem. do you have any advice that I could use using just my computer?

You have given zero (0) information that is specific to your(/your girlfriend's) setup. Therefore, suggestions that you get will be extremely general and possibly totally irrelevant to the problem.

To be honest, you have not stated a problem. The connection to ISPs can sometime be slow. Sometimes the service may be down. That happened to me just this morning. Then there are the routers. Sometimes, they go bad.

damn. right now my internet is back up and running great... I wasn't aware that their ISP could slow down and speed up like that. I always thought it was just something that I was doing online. I download a lot of torrents so... guess I was wrong all along.

I am finding in the cable router ISP setup in my building that on weekends and some nights some else in my cable network setup kills the network speeds and The send data go into the toilet. I am in the process in trying to convince my ISP of this problem.

All you torrent people need not to keep the connection open all the time. I say this because like any PTP program it shares everything you have download with other users around the world, without your knowledge. You have to wary of this fact in future lawsuits.
