Most any should because the wireless portion is almost universal. If Microsoft or anyone else tried to supplant this the governments of the world would come down on said company like a hammer.

You might want to ask around for some recommendations from people here on which one would be good.

I have a Linksys WRT54G that works great with my Macs and PCs, however be aware that this wireless router doesn't route AppleTalk.

Tell him to teach you how to do it. I say this because in teaching you (in person) this is something that will most definitely help you in your future classes.
