Wireless router connection drops

I had to recently replace my old wireless router with a new D-Link one. My HP laptop connects just fine, but now my Mac G4 Powerbook cannot seem to hold its Internet connection. If I close the browser (usually Firefox) and do something else, I have to turn off my Airport connection and turn it back on to access the Internet. I have checked everything in my network settings and cannot figure out the problem. When I boot up the computer first thing in the morning it works fine, but during the day I have to constantly reset the network connection (or the Airport card) to get back on the Internet.

My Mac powerbook is running 10.5.8. Here are the specs on the computer:

Model Name: PowerBook G4 17"
Model Identifier: PowerBook5,7
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.2)
Processor Speed: 1.67 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
