word x red squiggly lines

i recently bought myself a 2nd hand copy of word x.
when i write a word that the dictionary doesnt recognise, the red squiggly line comes up as usual. but in the options, i can only choose to "ignore all", not "add". how can i change this??

Have you checked what language dictionary you are using? Some dictionaries, I believe, you can't add to.

If you're using English (US), check that the dictionary isn't full. THat was what happened to me on Word 2000 when I used a PC.

You should be able to add a custom dictionary to Word (look under the Tools menu)
