WTF? Finder Prefs. Anything work?

"Open new windows in Column View". Ummm.... Guys? Is that supposed to work? Am I misinterpreting it? With spring-loaded folders, Finder windows open in pretty much anything but.

moving into spring-loaded folders does not open 'new' windows in that sense, as the folders auto close again when leaving each one. I don't think the Open New Windows setting applies here.

So then what tells the system what mode to open in? Sometimes it's column, sometimes it's icon, sometimes it's list. Always a joke.

There seems to be no easy solution (if indeed any) to that problem. With me, even regular new Finder windows open in the wrong view (though very rarely). Apple should really let us specify that in the spring loaded folders settings. It's a pain...
