Perhaps there is a way to 'reset' the state of files on a drive/folder? I'm guessing disk utility can't handle this one as it's more on a file level. Any suggestions for an application that can try to assess the state of files?

Hi,
I have an external HDD (USB) on which I have about 200 .mp4 movies saved. Whenever I try to open or copy a file to my local drive OS X reports:
Item "move.mp4" is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened.
Funnily (or not) enough about 10-20 of the movies do work but most dont. Those...
Thanks for the reply - funny thing is that the very next day it started working again without changing anything on this side.
I'm going to write this off as a one-off weirdness but I'll post back if it starts playing up again.
Thanks
H
I've started having a strange issue on my late 08 MBP today:
Some pages (so far some of facebook and some of google finance) return a pure white blank page in the browser. The progress bar behind the URL does it's normal stuff with pauses and delays while it does stuff in the background and...
Michael (or any one else reading),
I think I may be one step closer again. I've been reading up on kerberos and specifically TGTs you mentioned. I discovered the kinit command.
If I run kinit it 'guesses' the correct username - I enter my password and all my kerberized stuff works...
Hi Michael,
Is the login window in leopard supposed to try to get a TGT by default? I'd changed the /etc/authorization file based on advice found on google.
According the the network setting in System Prefernces (obtained via DHCP) the DNS server is my server's IP and the search domain is...
Hi and thanks for your response.
Directly after a reboot and login on the client klist shows:
klist: No Kerberos 5 tickets in credentials cache
When I try to click on the server under the "Shared" divider in finder on the client it says connection refused. This is what I'd imagine given...
I'm trying to get my leopard client to access sharepoints on my leopard server using kerberos authentication established at login. I'll list what I have done already bellow:
- OD set up with a username (short and long) and password that is the same as that being used on the client laptop.
-...
Apologies if this is a duplicate post - I've searched high and low and no answers yet!
What is OS X's prefered method for configuring a joystick or is this down to the software using it?
I am trying to use X-Plane 8.4 woth a Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick. All the controls work...
Hi all,
Is there any free software that I can use to open (for viewing and printing) .dwf files created in Autocad? I've searched versiontracker and foundnothign that matches my needs (they're all full CAD apps and I can't find any that explicitly support DWF).
Autodesk have an ancient...
Hi,
Ok, so i've installed ntop and have it starting up at system startup. Recently my G4 powerbook is dragging along though. I've used Activity Monitor to discover that it's using 90% of my CPU. Ouch.
My question is this: is there a way to run the command "sudo...
You're right - I do believe it has some deep ties into the linux kernel. I've tried ntop though and it's really amazing. I needed a little help installing it but found a great walkthrough here: http://homepage.mac.com/duling/halfdozen/ntop-Howto.html
It's a pity it has to run on a web...
Compiling from source is proving a pain. I don't have the developer tools installed and will need to get this to get a compiler I think... but anyway.
In the meantime I have found StreamWatcher. It can track the transfer rate based on the connection but not on the protocol/service. This will...
Thanks - I thought as much.
I will try to compile it (should be a riot) and will post my results here. I tried the network utility but only gives a total summary of the packets on your interface not the ports themselves. To add to it I need info from the whole network not traffic headed to...
