Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

I think I may have isolated the issue thanks to Rember. Tried both 512 sticks. One works well and passes all tests. The other, however, makes performance more sluggish, and when tested in Rember, a Panic occurs when the program is testing 'Solid Bits'. Hopefully, with any luck, that's the...

Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

Yeah, it looks like I'm going to have to. I just switch both my sticks from the top to bottom array. I actually seemed to of had gotten a small performance boost, so I got hopeful, but still got a panic. The least I'm going to do is try and identify the bad stick (hopefully they aren't both...

Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

I've repaired the disk, permissions, used Rember to scan the memory, tried running the computer with nothing but a mouse and a keyboard plugged in... and I still got about 2-3 KPs a day at most. I've done some scouting around at other forums, and it seems I'm not alone in Mac Pro panics. *sigh*...

Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

Well, the extended test said everything checks out hardware wise, so I guess that's kind of good... better software problem than failed hardware. I'll probably just wait until 10.5 comes out and bare it for now.

Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

Ah, never knew there was a hardware test on the DVD. I'll try that out. Everything in the Mac Pro is straight from the Apple site except an additional harddrive. I'll see what comes up.

Too Many Kernel Panics, Mac Pro

And they seem to be getting worse. The top line of the error report says 'Uncorrectable fbd (I think that's the one) memory error detected'. The only thing custom about the Mac Pro is a Seagate harddrive, but the panics were happening before I installed it. The only devices I ever hook up are a...

Maybe I should just make a new account on my second drive...

    AFP Connection Status Window

Alright, I'm having a relatively annoying problem with my Mac Pro. I think it may be because I imported/transfered settings from an older computer, and something might be conflicting or whatever. This is probably a small fix, but I'll go ahead and give you my set up... The problem is that...

ipod won't leave disk mode -- please help

I think you're talking about mine (it was about restoring one by itself). I hope you get an answer, else I guess the only thing to do would have Apple repair it.

Restoring a 3rd Gen iPod by itself?

So basically it is hopeless, I figured you wouldn't be able to do that. Blah I hate it when computer stuff stops working for no reason. I guess I could see if my Apple store could repair it, but it'd probably be cheaper to buy a new one x_x

Restoring a 3rd Gen iPod by itself?

lol, 45 people don't know? Seriously, there is a way to restore an iPod to factory defaults with no additional software, right? Else, I don't know what to do. It won't mount or be detected at all.

Restoring a 3rd Gen iPod by itself?

I have no idea where my instruction booklet is, as the iPod is two years old now. I pretty much gave it to my sister, so I wasn't around when it stopped working. Right now, all it does when connected, either by itself or on the dock, is recharge. I can't get it to mount or anything. Tried the...

I'm guessing my Firelite drive is beyond hope

I got it used (though it wasn't heavily used, and was formatted). Worked for about a year, was working just fine last I checked, and now it's dead. Tried several different computer, even went out and bought a new cable. Nothing. Won't mount, won't appear in disk utility, system profiler, or even...

    Quick 5.1 Sound Question

Since the word 'Soundcard' is a rarely heard in the Mac universe, I just need a quick answer on something I haven't been able to find on Google yet. Thinking about getting a 5.1 sound system, and I just need to make sure that the soundcard which comes with a G4 Mirrored Drive will support it...

Can you convert MPG and keep the sound?

Hi, quick question. I run a site where I record movies on a friend's Windows machine via his tuner card. I had made 12 movies before we realized that a Mov file is a better choice than an MPEG. My last six movies are now Mov's, but the 12 older ones are still mpg's and are double the size. My...
