Alright I found the problem. I put a new DVD ROM and I was able to boot the computer.

Can I boot the new drive by Firewire connecting to another Mac?

Do they still sell them?

Someone gave me this computer along with a disc that's not original (came from another model). Could that be the reason?

Hi, everybody. I just put a new hard drive (western digital 80gig) into my iMac G3 500 MHz. Now when I try to boot the computer using Os 9 disc and holding C down, I hear classic Ta-ta music and then the flashing smiley computer face with ? mark....... I've set the new drive to Master...

Someone gave me an old iMac G3 m5521 that runs/ran Os 9. The machine has slot loading DVD drive and Firewire... I tried to install Tiger on it and it rejected it saying that it cannot be installed on this computer. Now when i start the iMac I get this file icon with question mark flashing...

has anyone cleaned inside an iMac G5? I think I need to dust my fan as it is getting nosier plus on the back fan grill I found copious amount of sticky dust. Is it possible to open the iMac and do some thorough cleaning without voiding warranty....? any tips? thanks

Thank you. I have G5 iMac 2.1Ghz. Ableton Live is the program I am using to record. It is set to 24-bit and 44.1Khz. So I just wonder if the signal is no less than that when it reaches the porgram. How do I make sure? Cheers

I like the sound of the built-in preamp but am not sure what sample rate and bit depth is. When I check the "more info" in "about this Mac" It shows formats PCM 16, PCM 24 and AC3 16. PCM 24 is 24bit and g32, 44.1, 48, 64, 88.2, 96 Khz Sample rate. How do I make sure that whatever I record...

I have DSL with around 5Mg speed. This problem does not affect upload. Download, however, slows to a crawl after about half an hour. The only way to remedy this is to restart the computer. Turning the modem off/on doe not help. Can someone help? Thanks

Thanks guys. I saved the PT on the system drive. But now I have to make use the partition (140 G) I set aside for it. I was able to save sessions on the 3rd volume.
