    Startup Shortcuts

I don't know of a list, yet, though I'm sure one is out there. That is awesome if X does that. I'm gonna test it now. Also, T will boot into firewire Target disk mode.

    Virtual PC 5 performance?

Just wondering if anyone out there has used VPC5 yet. I'm especially interested in how it runs in OS X, particularily if you have dual processors. So what's the story? There were some pretty ambitious claims circulating before it was released.

    Burning a Bootable CD?

There is a Disk Copy 6.5 beta out there which supports burning. You can find it via the usual means, most likely not versiontracker. Try ADC, Carracho, Hotline, you know ...

    Dev tools don't work.

First thing that I can think of is: are you using the right Dev Tools? You shouldn't use the Dev Tools from 10.0.* if you are running 10.1. Either use the Dev Tools CD that came with the full or paid mail upgrade 10.1, or download the more recent Dev Tools from the Website.

Getting ready to clear the drive

Firstly, OS X and OS 9 can happily coexist in bootable fashion on the same partition because they use different system folder names. OS X uses "System" while OS 9 uses "System Folder". So there is no problem having them both on the same Partition. Secondly, you should be able to use other OS...

    Burning a Bootable CD?

Don't forget that trying to burn an OS X bootable CD is an entirely different matter. For that Toast cannot do it yet. Try the Disk Copy method.

    web sharing option malfunctioning?

Yes there certainly are other ways. Primarily, you can access it from the Unix shell via the Terminal program. However, working in the terminal is not to be taken lightly, and you will need detailed and specific directions. I suggest that you search the web for sites that provide these...

    Burning a Bootable CD?

You can burn a bootable CD from within OS X, if you are copying an originally bootable CD, by using the Disk Copy application. You can do this from OS 9 if you use Disk Copy 6.5, which may still be in Beta.

Can't Print in Mac OS x with epson stylus color 740

Hey, sorry about your luck. I have the same printer and have been using it sucessfully on every version of OS X since the Public Beta. Do get a better idea of what's wrong, could you tell me about your system? What version of OS X are you running, what hardware, and is the printer directly...

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a website that Apple maintains that has a list of all the supported FireWire and USB CD burners. I know this is just for iTines, but it stands to reason that these are the same ones that are recognized by OS X itself. It is important to note that the manufacturer of the whole unit is...

    lack of dual monitor support

There are lots of other PCI video cards, you should be able to find one very easily. I understand that you don't want to pay alot, so forget about the Radeon. Okay, I see it is hard to find cheap Mac Video Cards. But at Small Dog Electronics they have a special on one for only $99. Go check...

    In future...

I just want to point out that even though a lot of people were disappointed, Apple did get a lot of disks out on Saturday, and even more since. Give them a minute to please 10s of thousands of people, you know. At the nearest Apple Store to me, they reportedly had almost 1000 upgrade CDs, but...

    My "little changes" wishlist

Why in the world would you want to protect a computer from waking up from sleep, and how do you propose that be done? First of all, you cannot enter passwords in Sleep, obviously. So your computer would have to wake up just to offer the password screen, right? So what is the point? Maybe you...

    lack of dual monitor support

Um, at the Apple Store Online, there is definately a configuration option for adding multiple display support. True this is only to add additional PCI video cards, but what is wrong with that? That's what expansion bays are for, and you've got 4. Too late for the build to order option, but there...

need help networking OS X 10.1 and win2000

Well let me just get you started by what I can think of off the top of my head. 1- plug the computers into the hub, duh. 2- turn file sharing on in the System Preferences of the Mac. 3- okay, you might be done. I can't recollect if there is a setting to turn on in Win2000 or if it is...
