Seems like you've have a mix of good/bad service. Even if the squealing can only be heard sporadically, the right speaker is still broken, so at the very least, they should take care of that. You did get it back in 4 hrs, so perhaps they rushed through..... maybe next time tell them to take...

If it's too good to be true... it is. Short of Academic & Government pricing, I don't know of any legal huge 'discounts' that are significant. Try over http://www.academicsuperstore.com/ they have legit software, and the rules to qualify are loose if you have anyone in an education institution.

Absolutely.. upgrading will make the mac run very fast. I have 1.5GB in mine, and the 512MB was a bare minimum... I was astonished how much adding the extra GB did. Especially running the rosetta emulation, it makes things much more tolerable.
