I felt that way until my wife gave me one. If you like gadgets and are willing to do a bit of reading, get one. If you hate dealing with/learning about something new - don't. I love playing around with and learning about new stuff and so am on my second Apple Watch - the Ultra.

Just in case someone arrives at this thread searching for an answer to this problem, the settings you have to change are these: Apple Mail > Preferences > General Tab > Default Email Reader. Change this from Google to Mail and that does it. Again, thanks, Cheryl.
