I have used Internet Explorer (on Vista running on VMWare Fusion) to view XML files. According to Apple's What’s New in Safari 5.1, Safari also helps one viewing XML-files.

XBOX 360 + MBP on the same monitor??

What version of MacBook Pro? I have year 2011 version with Thunderbolt. I bought a converter from Thunderbolt to HDMI. The clerk told that the sound should go via the converter, but my TV does not receive the sound. It does not really matter, since I use my MBP to play DVDs on night, and it...

    .gif?????

If by running a .gif file you mean viewing an animated GIF, you could use Safari. Preview can also show an animated GIF as a slideshow, but I guess you have to click "next frame" button yourself.

weird stuff running on my windows

I had similar messages on my VMWare Fusion and Vista. It turn out to be Macbook Pro's dual GPU: OS X changed the GPU and Vista was puzzled. Actually some times Vista was all red (or red replaced the white).

    running ./configure on mac OS X 10.4??

sed, chmod and rm are normal OS X commands, so there is something wrong either on your PATH variable or the configure file. Try to run it with . ./configure instead. There is no such (common) command as makefile. Instead use command make.

    User Permissions

I guess you have to create a group, add all other users but the one to it and give access to the group but not others.

    axpx files

aspx files are actually programs that the web server executes. To the web browser, they should be look like html-files (or in your case pdf). VMware Fusion 4 and Time machine

I upgraded my Fusion 3 to 4. VMware listed Time Machine support as one of the upgrades. How should I use it? When I search the help, it says that I should not use Time Machine on virtual machine files. Instead I should put the files I like to be backup onto shared files. Why? I don't need them...

    Inactive memory and paging woes

Are you sure you are swapping? I thought Unix systems map the program file to memory, so in a way running programs seems to be swapping (file is used instead of RAM).

Launching .Jar file with more RAM

Java virtual machine uses as much memory as you tell. If you do not tell, it uses the default amount. Try "java -Xms512m -Xmx512m -jar fileName.jar".

    reports in ipad

Those terms ssrs, rdl and mosly tell me nothing, but Google told that they are some SQL Server based reporting system. Wiki for ssrs tells that it can generate reports in several formats, including PDF. IBooks supports PDF, so why not use PDF instead of XML? If you need to convert XML to HTML...

echo PATH versus sudo vi /etc/paths

Does it matter? You can set it your self on your .bashrc (or what ever your shell interpreter's startup file is). If it is bash, it reads /etc/profile, /etc/bashrc and then your .profile and .bashrc files. Set path with commands or if you like to add new directories but not to loose old,

I guess they want to make it more like iPhone, so the programmers do not have to make two different versions of the programs.

You can use other addresses also for local networks. 192.168 is the most common, but 10.0 and 172.16 are also reserved for private networks.
