(Preferably) Dell monitor that's as good as apple Cinema display?

Macs don't have sound cards that support true 5.1 speaker systems. You can install such a system, but it will basically be a surround stereo system. Except for the Mac Pro tower models, you can't upgrade the sound card in a Macintosh. There are external devices that claim to allow 5.1 sound...

(Preferably) Dell monitor that's as good as apple Cinema display?

The fact that a speaker can handle a maximum of 2 Watts per channel instead of 17 doesn't really tell you anything, except that you don't need as powerful an amplifier to run it. It doesn't tell you how loud that speaker can play or how accurate the sound reproduction is for that speaker...

Mac OS X Snow Leopard - video problems?

Your Macintosh came with QuickTime, and it can play several types of media files (both music and movies) as it comes, but not all types. Most AVI files won't play as your Mac comes from Apple, nor will Flash or Windows Media files. The really good news is that you can download a couple of free...

Finder crashes when emptying trash / Trash doesn't empty (10.3.9)

My thoughts are: It is obviously a system-wide problem, because the problem doesn't go away when you reboot into another user account. There seems to be something intrinsically wrong with how your system software is handling the trash process. Thankfully, you aren't using Snow Leopard, so you...

Finder crashes when emptying trash / Trash doesn't empty (10.3.9)

I suspect that the file that you are trying to trash is corrupted and has a busy flag set. The easiest thing to do would be to startup from another volume and then to trash the file.

    scratch discs are full

How big is your hard drive, and how much free space is left on the drive? Your drive can have quite a bit of free space showing, even as much as 40% of the drive free, but if the data on that drive is very fragmented, then there won't be enough free contiguous space on the drive for it to run...

Official Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Thread & FAQ

The Mac's market share has about doubled in the last few years. According to Apple, about half of those new users are previous Windows users. That means that there are now millions of Mac users who until fairly recently only knew how to use a Windows PC, and who are basically Mac newbies...

(Preferably) Dell monitor that's as good as apple Cinema display?

It's a not very well kept secret that Samsung makes most of Apple's displays for them. If you check Samsung's Web site, you will find some models that look suspiciously similar to the equivalent Apple display (but without the brushed metal bezel), and which get great reviews, but only cost a...

    pdf to word

Forgive me for being a skeptic, but this was "Mass's" first post. The "Tweak PDF to Word" site looks identical to several scam sites that I've seen, and the site doesn't list any contact information for the company other than via e-mail. No phone number, no address, not even a mention of what...
