    $1 a song by Apple

Of course, this might piss off people who bought Toast Ti or something smilar to port their vinyl albums to CDs or just MP3s. Let's see, for possibly less than they spent (depending on # of songs they want and the value of the time they save) they could now simply download, for $.99 a song, the...

    Which Mac Mag?

I love the MacAddict CD's, and here's why: 1) Trying out many programs is important for my job 2) I am posting here from school because I currently have no internet connection at home. 3) When I did have an internet connection at home, it was dial-up, which is too slow for DLing many apps...

    Chimera has changed its name

    1. Apple's browser is younger, much younger, and as such you can compare it to how Camino (then Chimera) was when it was this young. Safari is coming along very well, and faster than Camino did (for obvious reasons of funding for development and such). The Camino engine is Gecko, which is also...

    $1 a song by Apple

Considering how aggressive Apple's latest business marketing has been, it would make sense for them to throw this whole setup on a bunch of Xserves, loaded w/ tons of storage. Considering the filesize advantage AAC has over MP3, this could be feasable. Also, as far as offering the service even...

    17" Powerbook Rumors?

...who probably isn't supposed to be telling customers that....:p :D

    $1 a song by Apple

First off, if you only count the songs on each CD you actually wanted then $1 a song is cheap. Also, most of the $$ from a CD goes to: Retail outlet (online or physical store), record company, artist, record company (2X cause they take A LOT). Only a small portion goes into the physical product...

    iPod 2 Speculation

    1) Just the fact that satelite radio has subscription fees means I don't want tto see it in my iPod. The .mac integration in OS X is one thing, but OS X has zillions of great features, and you can find alternatives (though not as nice in many cases) for all it provides. I should not have to pay...

    New Safari!

Yes, for Florida. And dixonbm said it for Nashville, TN. And on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at and before 2:09 EST, the King of Prussia Apple Store didn't have it.

spymac's "sources" claim more software for sale soon...

Not be the first? I'm assuming that's a typo....since iLife is out and is the first now, and things that are first are generally still the first when the second, third, etc come out...:p

    17" PowerBook 4X SuperDrive

Really? Funny that it's not slot-loading, then. tragicblu, we generally respect statements with evidence. While fryke didn't give any either, he posts very frequently here and most of us are familiar with his expertise. If you want to refute his statement, be my guest, but please back it up with...

    iNet?

These apps: Mail Safari Address Book iChat TestEdit ...can and should be considered integral (and integrated) to the OS. Granted, Apple does right by us users by allowing us to remove them at will and use alternatives without hitches, but I seriously doubt they will ever be available...

    Chimera changing it's name

Notice that Apple used a non-'i'-name for its browser. If you think about it, that makes sense: a browser has become an essential part of any operating system in use today. iApps are really supposed to be free or cheap useful-but-nonessential apps. At least, that's my interpretation

    New Safari!

Isn't Chimera still at .60? So I guess, at the very least, we can now make a fair comparison between Chimera and Safari.... ...and where one is weak (Safari/tabs, Chimera/ad blocking) the other is strong. I'd say they are about equal. I just hope Safari actually is better when it is final...

Thank God for the Europeans - regarding Microsoft

Evidence to say that such an argument (Apple also bundles software) is rediculous: 1. I can remove iMovie 2. I can remove IE and Safari 3. I can remove Mail 4. I can remove iChat 5. Well, you get the idea....

    iTunes 4

Use an emulator, get Audio Hijack (can be found at versiontracker.com), aim Audio Hijack at the emulator and launch it, hit record when you know the sound effect is coming up, use an editor like Amadeus (sp?) to isolate the sound effect, drag the resultin AIFF file into iTunes, select the song...

And then you definately don't get any use of the internal antenna, unless that wire is for the Airport Extreme antenna.

    iTunes 4

Yes, but from there you have no access to the mp3's, which are in a hidden area that you "need" to use iTunes or the iPod itself to access. I say "need" in quotes because if you check out versiontracker.com, and search for "ipod," you will see many programs that can also access the hidden area...

    aluminum look on powerbook...

So I assume you scratched the "paint" off to reveal actual plastic? I doubt it... Aluminum is very light and when textured well doesn't really feel like 'metal' per se. The 12" PB case is NOT mostly painted plastic, the keyboard might be, but that's about it. I agree with the ugly part, because...
