X Server's Workgroup Manager is a piece of crap

Hmmm, thanks for the info. I guess we just got lucky. We just started using Mac OS X server software a few months back and love it. Our 22 year old newly appointed IT guy who we pulled off prepress production had never set up a server in his life. After installing Mac OS X server 10.2.4 we had...

What language to use for this:

Truthfully, you could probably do it in filemaker. Find a synthesizer plug in and basically corespond each note to a color. After the database has all the correct color note sequences you can output it anyway you want. You can very easily run a script to do a slide show or something like that.

OS X Needs a DVD Player Update

Hmm, I think it is a combination of software and the monitor. on my ibook 800mhz i do notice some fight sequences where it will pixelate. However, on both of my powermacs (connected to sony flat CRTs not LCDs) we don't have that problem at all. Heck it's a lot better then their first attempt...

How much faster can 10.3 be??

buy a 400 mhz pc and run xp on it and then run a 400 mhz imac with 10.2.6 on it. Of course if you buy a new pc it's going to be faster just as if you were to buy a new mac.

    Database App?

Filemaker has been pretty good to us. And since it's cross platform unlike Access it plays nice with most systems. We have used it for some pretty complicated databases with well over 100,000 items networked to over 50 computers and 5 different websites.

24 hours with the new ipod

Well, I don't care I just think that 2+ gigs from the 15 is a bit much. Oh, by the way... the new ipod does not float. I had it in my shirt pocket and it slipped in the drink. I did have the ear plugs in and the fire wire cover protector so it still works like a charm. Actually, it needed a bit...

24 hours with the new ipod

Just wanted to get peoples impressions of the new ipod. Overall, in this day an age it's a 5/5. Tomorrow of course as with any product it will seem dated. The only gripes I have from the old form factor is that the hold button is difficult to access. The next version should do away with it...

    Remember that botched Microsoft ad...

No, Apple improved upon the idea So that it could be used by the masses. I have never seen Apple copy anything exactly. Microsoft tried to copy the OS and the only reason they even got that far and are still around is that IBM made the biggest blunder of the century.

    dedicated hosting & xserve

One way or another I've had a website hosted by someone for nearly 6 years. I think I paid about $800 a month way back when. Now you can get decent hosting for under $15.00 a month. However, there seems to be a trend of people going to dedicated machines since the costs have gone down so much...

    Al Gore...Apple's next CEO

So, after finishing off some sour cream and onion chips and some dip(not the leafy kind) I had this epiphany that Jobs is actually molding Al Gore to take over the reigns of Apple. If Bush wins the election this year Gore will have 4 years at the helm and then back into politics he goes. Winning...
