The lovely iPod Mini is finally available for pre-ordering over here (UK) but while I know I'm going to get one at some point, I'm not sure whether or not to wait. While 4Gb is plenty of space for my needs, I'd hate to buy one only to see a new bigger, better, faster (more!) version get released...

Really? I have a filter between my modem (the same model) and the wall. The way understood it is that your line carries two signals (the DSL signal and the phone signal) and the filter separates them.

Sounds like the micro-filter you have your Mac plugged into is bust - can you try a different one? DSL will work without a micro-filter until someone calls your number.

Make sure you have "SpeedTouch USB Modem" selected under 'System Preferences -> Network -> Show: SpeedTouch USB -> Modem'
