It's seems to have, but it's an occasional thing so I'll let you know in a week or so!

    Safari shutdown takes an age

Cheers for the help, guys. I've moved that file and I've also cleared the 'library/safari/icons' folder and made it read-only as suggested on the Apple forum.

    Safari shutdown takes an age

Every now and again when I quit Safari I get the old spinning beach ball and it seems to take Safari and age to actually go - at least 30 seconds and sometimes up to 2 minutes. During this time, hard disk activity ranges from manic to none. Is there a problem and, if so, how can I fix it?

    Buying more memory

I have a 17" flat panel iMac which is currently running on 256Mb of PC2700 DDR333 RAM. I'm looking to add an extra 512Mb and have found what I need on the Apple store for £160 and also at SMC Direct (Kingston part number KTA-PBG4333/512) for £90. Obviously I'd much rather buy the cheaper...

    Backing up too much data?

I use Backup to copy my most important data to my iDisk folder and I also use iSync to synch my bookmarks, address book and calendars. Do I need to backup up my address book using Backup if I'm iSync-ing it too? Isn't that just doubling up the data and wasting space on my iDisk? Also, does...

    Isp For Mac Users

I'm in the UK and I use Pipex ADSL and have never had a problem with it. I used a Windows XP machine prior to my iMac and when I switched, all I did was print off the instructions on Pipex's website for installing the supplied modem on OS X with no problems at all. The modem I got with...

    .Mac questions for .Mac users

Like the others, I get little or no spam - just don't post your address on websites where it can get spidered. As for usefulness: 10/10. Being able to access mail, addresses and occasionally bookmarks from anywhere is excellent and, because I'm lazy, I also backup to iDisk.

Alias to a file located on an FTP server

Not sure if this is in the right forum ... On my website, I use server side includes to add the content of various text files to my pages, several of which tell people the last CD I bought, the last thing I saw at the cinema etc. Is there any way I can have aliases to these text files -...
