Try re-installing videodownloader to see if it'll re-takeover the .flv extension. Or check out the videodownloader site or Mozilla forums to see if there are any similar issues.

Try going into your utilities folder and running Disk Utility to repair disk permissions. Also run Software Update to see if there are any outstanding updates. That's where I'd start.

The built in mic isn't the best when making Skype phone calls. It has background noise and people feel as if you are on speaker phone all the time.
