Thanks for that, As far as I know, the uni only has spss14 at the moment and spss11 for mac. If I got bootcamp or VMWare, do I need to run windows as well? I downloaded the trial version of parallels, but I need to run windows, so I'm going to trash it.

Thanks It's odd. I have binned everything except the user cache in preferences (I searched the HD). If I click on the icon in the dock to be sure another disk image comes up and msn signs me in. Should I bin the cache in prefs? I've buggered things up by binning prefs so I'd like to be sure...

OK, I did it the way you guys said (thanks BTW! :) ), but as soon as I open MSN I get the flippin' virtual disk image on my desktop again! and I can't get rid of the disk image on the desktop til I close msn. Am I missing something out?

No .pkg after anything. I tried dragging the disk image to applications and then ejecting it, but every time I try to open MSN from apps, the disk image turns up on the desktop. I wouldn't mind but I'm a mucky pup and have a pretty cluttered desktop as it is without all this!

I may be being dumb here, but I don't seem to be able to get msn into the hard drive. I have to keep an external harddrive icon on the desk top to use the new version. What ever I do, dragging icons or disk images etc to the hard drive nothing works. What am I doing wrong? I did it before...

It seems to be right again now :confused: One thing which is odd though, is when I restart I get a little os9 type folder with a ? in it but only for a split second and then it changes to the os9 finder smilie face before going into the ususl sequence. I've had this imac for about 5 years...

Hi Satcomer, It's a PPC mac. I'm not actually in a total flap about it, but like I said before, I'm worried it maybe something else. Maybe Apple time is just that bit more ahead of everyone else these days!
