    Accelerator for G3 Powerbook WS

The more real memory the better with PowerBooks on X. PowerBook drives are VERY slow and at 128 X is using virtual memory a lot. I'd get more memory first and then think about the processor later. It sounds like Racer wasn't having any problem with his system with a G3 at 266 mhz with 512MB...

OS X server on iBook... possible?

I always thought those usually said supported systems. I would guess it would work, it uses that same drivers as Mac OS X, it should run on the same hardware. ... just don't expect Apple to provide support if you have problems.

    OSX on my PC?

If Apple made Mac OS X for Intel, it would become the most pirated software on the internet and few if any would buy it. Normal people use what came with their systems. So Windows would not feel any more pressure than it currently does from Solaris for Intel or Linux. Hey, the BeOS was a great...

I wonder where these Apple terms came from.

I think it is funny that the real internet apps don't have an "i" at the beginning of their names (Mail, Safari and Sherlock).

Is open office reliable? Or safe?

Same here! It has been a long time since the last time I fired up AppleWorks. TextEdit covers everything that I need. Besides, I tend to send docs as PDFs anyway (I don't want to force anyone to have to buy software to read what I'm sending them), and they have always looked great straight out...

    X Stable??

Actually I have the Console set to come up when ever a crash occurs (saves time, you know). What am I looking for? It was a single crash over a month ago... is there something special about it that you want to know about?

    X Stable??

Apple supplied hardware test CDs for all iMacs from at least the slot-loading series on (1999-present). These are hardware specific CDs that only work on the model they are shipped with. Now unless I was visited by the Hardware Test CD Fairy, this CD was included in the original set of CDs...

    X Stable??

I'm using an iMac 350 (I'm the original owner), running 10.2 and Photoshop/Image Ready 7, Acrobat 5, and Safari (which I'm using to type this). My last crash of any type was 1/10/2003, my System Preferences crashed... though I don't remember why. For a complete system wide crash I would say...

    former mac user afraid

I could not agree with you more. You are perceiving an attacks or "punch" or "violence" where none exist. Further you where expecting it from the start... your opening post contain such descriptions without anyone having said anything to you. And once again, I must ask: what would motivate you...

    former mac user afraid

Again, I still don't see the point in why you came here and why you felt the urge to post. I, like most Mac users in a PC world, work with Windows daily. Again, I feel no need to seek out a Windows forum of happy Windows users. Further I feel no need to tell them that because they are happy...

    former mac user afraid

AlQuemist, One question, a little off subject... what would motivate you to post in a Mac forum? You're not a Mac user, so why show up here? I ask this because I am not a Windows user, and I have never been to a Windows or PC forum. What would be the point? Seems to me that if you are truly...

    Screen size to design for?

Most PC users I have found use 800x600. This is not because they can't have large resolutions, it is because many of their apps are designed so that they only go full screen at 800x600 (and they can deal with apps that aren't full screen). I actually know PC people with beautiful 19" monitors...

    Deleting Classic.....

Some Installers like for Photoshop 7 actually look for classic. If it doesn't find it, Photoshop won't install (even if you never plan on running it in classic). The best thing to do if you have "no need for Classic" would be to ignore the fact that it is even on your system. Someday we won't...

Wow, I don't remember getting a OS 9 CD in my box with the version of Jaguar I have. Did you pay extra for that version?

    Apple Invented Bluetooth Graphic Card!!!

I'm not foreign, but can see that there is somethign wrong with this setence. As you seem to like picking these things out, no matter how small the error seems to be, maybe we should all start watching for the spelling and grammar of your posts. To 99.9999% of the people who read that line from...

    No AppleWorks in new PowerBooks?

The discussion is about not getting AppleWorks with a new PowerBook. I use AppleWorks all the time (for important projects that I work on) without it crashing, so maybe your problems with keeping it up are unique to you. Again, you seem to have far to little experience with AppleWorks (or how...
