    Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to dedicate say 2 or more cores on an octocore system to a designated application? I know there is the renice utility but that doesn't dedicate certain cores to processing a task, it just sets priority.

    Yes I think it is hardware. I ran TechTool Pro on the system and it found no problems with the hardware. but it is mostly likely a hardware issue of some kind. I'm hoping it's one of the Video cards. I guess I'll have to start swapping out hardware.
