    Backing Up my ibook

    Firewire the two computers together. Put the iBook into Target Disk mode, Use the PowerBook to access the files on the iBook. Use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy the HDD of the iBook or some other software like SuperDuper.

    I would try unplugging an re-plugging the drives one at a time. If that doesn't work, restart your computer then plug the drives back in.

    What OS? My Pismo has the classic case of the CPU cache corrupting the data when it sleeps for very long and I have to restart once a day for it to work right. And this is a classic case if it were mine. That said, have you done a 'Get info', and selected "Ignore Permissions on this volume"...
