    17" PowerBook

First, you'll only have to wait until the end of the month to have ProTools 6 for OSX, so this MAY be a moot point. Second, you will still only get 1024X768 on the 12" PB, so you wont gain any real estate. BUT!!!, the 12" supports external monitors (DUAL DISPLAY!!!) up to 1600x1200, you that...

    17" PowerBook

Only www.macrumors.com seemed to be on top of this one. They also predicted the 12" PB!

    Problems with PS 7.0.1 updater

Is this copy legit? The updater will not update versions with hacked serial numbers. This is well documented, and Adobe implemented the same thing with Illustrator 10 to 10.0.1

    OS X 10.2 works perfectly.

No real big problems here, either. Sherlock 3 has been a little spotty. I've had some disappearing text problems in IE and Word (something to do with text-smoothing). Firewire Target Disk mode doesnt work as well as it did (requires that I unplug then replug the firewire cable from my iBook...

New Power Mac G4 systems to be unveiled tomorrow with speeds up to 1.25GHz

I have to agree with all of the above sentiments. These revsisions are some what underwhelming ("if that's a word"). But lets not forget that none of us have actually HEARD Apple talk about these new machines yet. The FSB will definitely be up to 166Mhz at least on the top two models...

    Observations of Mac OS X

Wow! Way to revive a year-old thread!

will my iMac take advantage of Quartz extreme

You will not be able to take advantage of QE, but 10.2 will DEFINITELY give you a big speed boost, just not as much as you would see if QE was active. Sorry. I'm in the same boat with my iBook 500 and iMac 600. 10.2 will still rock, though.

What if Windows run on Mac natively?

Wow, I really shouldnt be skipping that morning coffee:D Naturally, I was referring to VGS, not VPC.

What if Windows run on Mac natively?

Actually, the old NT, although it could run on PPC hardware, could not be run on a Mac. And enabling the Mac to run Windows apps will be the death of Apple. If you do this, no one will develop MacOS programs anymore (why would they, when they can now sell the same Windows version to nearly...

    Installed Jaguar 6c98

Rage 128 users (like me...iBook 500 and iMac 600) will still see major boosts in speed from Jag-Wire. From all reports, it seems everything has been made faster and that the speed boost from 10.1.5 to 10.2 is bigger than that from 10.0.4 to 10.1, regardless of system. I would imagine that...

    iTunes 3 crazy preformance boost

I agree, my frame rates are also quite measly on my iMac 600 (see below). I mean, 9-12 fps is pretty pathetic! Not that I care about the visuals that much, but its nice to be able to keep up!;)

How can Apple be expected to provide you with disk storage and an email account, and on top of that give you all the new .Mac features, for nothing? Apple is great and all, but they need to make money!
