The Chime annoys me too, but I found a small app, called "Start-up Sound", which disables it. Worked for me. However, when I took my MBP in for service, in order to diagnose the problem, the tech had to hear that chime to do his work. YMMV.

Have you repaired your permissions lately? That action seems to cure a lot of things.

Especially if you leave your Mac plugged in all of the time. It's tough on the battery. If you have AppleCare, check that out, or take it to the "Genius". My battery was "swollen" after about the same time and they replaced it. Good luck over there...

My permission repair data looks very similar to the above. What is with JavaVirtualMachines anyway? If I run repair three or four times, it still comes up the same. I'm perplexed.

I am also a Flickr pro user, but use the Flickr Exporter to upload. You go into File and export from there. I've had no comments about faded photos, so maybe your photos' resolution might be better with the Exporter. FWIW RB http://www.flickr.com/photos/ralphieboyo

I just purchased a wireless usb adapter from afterthemac.com for my macBook Pro. I share wireless with a neighbor and Airport wasn't sensitive enough to get any signal. This adapter works excellently, even with 802.11n. This may work for you. RB

I checked accounts in mail prefs and noticed I had no POP account anymore, due to the "address book" fix you sent me. I re-did that and voila, everything works. The Mail address book now works superbly, BTW Many thanks. I learned than I had planned with your encouragement... rb

Help...when I wish to add another recipient to a email I am composing, I used to be able to click on the Address Book icon in Mail and add addresses without a problem with a simple click. Now, for some mysterious reason, when I click on it, nothing happens...zilch! Any solutions/incantations...

Sounds like you must use it in the refridgerator, eh? 110 degrees is the lowest this Powerbook CPU has ever run, thus the Macbook came about, I believe.

I quit the Print Manager and now temp runs about 110 degrees... Many thanks for the help...

in checkint the Activity Monitor I found that the "print job manager" was using about 80 percent of the CPU. What gives? I don't even have a printer attached to the computer? TIA

After update, dock mail Icon changed. More importantly, I no longer have Mail...no matter what I do, I can't get it to open. As suggested by Mac Forum, I have re-installed the last Combo-update= no help. It is getting very old using my ISP Webmail... What with the HUGE problem I had...
