    What Changed You???

The U.S. Army is experimenting with live/recorded streaming audio and video over the networks using a Mac mini (small nets) or Xserve (larger nets) and since they are giving me a Mac mini to help with testing I figured I had better buy my own to use at home so I wouldn't be "lost". Haven't...

    Supporting Macs

Nah, you're just pissing people off with your anti-Mac bias and the fact that you don't need ANY book at all to learn OS X. I switched from a nice 2.4GHZ XP Pro laptop to a Mac mini at home and haven't needed to go back AT ALL. And I'm a systems administrator at work for the largest Active...

Will the future software be still working for G5?

Hmmm. I'ma recent "switcher" and I find that my paltry, weaksauce Mac mini (1GB self-installed RAM with 80GB HDD and Airport Extreme) suit me just fine for everything I do. I do so want a nice Apple Mac OS X "laptop", but the pricing is out of my league for now (along with shipping overseas)...

    No audio in garageband 2

Do you have a USB headset/USB speakers/USB sound device? That could be the issue with normal system sounds going to the regular speakers and GB going to a USB audio device. It's in the preferences when you open up GB. Also, are you running Audio Hijack Pro? If so, check the settings on that...

    New intel Macs

Could be worse...they could be calling them "TelMacs" instead. :)

    The let's-boycott-stupid-PowerBook-renaming thread

$20 says Stevie didn't outsource to a consulting firm for that name. Either he came up with it or an Apple employee did and Stevie liked it. Either way, guess who was the one to make the final go-ahead decision on the name "MacBook"? That's right, your "Apple God", Steve Jobs. So if you hate...

    Jobs is magical...

Probably stayed up all night before the event making sure things were "Steve Jobs Keynote Worthy"(tm) and went off without any glitches. Unlike some well-rested Microsoft executives people saw earlier...

Need help adding a Mac OS X 10.4.2 Client to Active Directory Network

Yes, depending on how you've setup your 2003 Active Directory (AD) environment, you'll have to add the Mac's COMPUTER account to AD as suggested by mikepak, but it seems you can access shares no problem so... Where I work, nobody access anything server-based in AD unless the computer they are...

Can we load Windows directly on the IntelMac

In that case, it will be at least a year after Vista comes out for me to even try that. Because we all know to NEVER buy a Microsoft operating system until they've released the first Service Pack for it...and even then wait for any "gotcha" bug reports from the Service Pack. Well, that's how...

Can we load Windows directly on the IntelMac

What would be better would be OS X's capability to run XP Pro in a VirtPC-style environmnet...that way when I want to get things done I can use OS X...but to reset an Active Directory user account or two or use Visio when the boss emails me yet another network plan I can pop over to XP WITHOUT...

Why no upgrade prices for iWork / iLife 05 to 06?

I think the iWeb app is pretty neat for what it does. But the iPhoto "homepage" needs some serious work...I guess all that work went into iWeb. As far as dotmac, well...umm...it's nice and all, but I don't know if it's $99 nice. If you're a heavy net user who loves updating a webpage and giving...

OK - you won the lotto

A Beowulf cluster of 100 Mac minis stacked together into a padded frame that resembles a couch. A nice, WARM couch. My own "Genius" slave to walk around carrying my open MacBook all day. My own "Microsoftie" slave to walk around carrying my open Alienware laptop all day. Stewie: "Now, the two...

Google Earth is now available for Mac!

I always liked the way The Register would make fun of it...like there was a Google/Bush conspiracy to "eliminate" Europe. EDIT: Dear Google, when most people think of "Frankfurt, Germany" they do NOT mean "Frankfurt an Oder" on the border of Poland. They mean the one with the huge airport and...

This the same Google Earth that doesn't show any details for Europe other than the U.K.? Or did they fix that? It's been a while since I last used it. Nevermind...I'll download and see for myself.

The Official MacWorld (Keynote) w/ Online Chat

You're still missing the point. It's nice that everyone here now KNOWS about this problem, but just how many have actually sent an email to Apple about solving the problem? I've sent email after email about it and they've ignored me. I glad everyone knows about it, now how about actually...
